Ellen Zion, born in Brooklyn, New York is a partner at the firm. Ellen attended State University of New York at Binghamton before obtaining her J.D. from State University of New York at Buffalo.
Her practice focuses on affirmative litigation, white collar criminal matters and insurance defense litigation, with a concentration in fraudulent medical claims made under the New York No-Fault statute. Ellen represents clients in all proceedings including examinations under oath of medical providers.
Ellen was an Assistant Attorney General and Chief of the Auto Insurance Fraud Unit of the New York State Attorney General’s Office (OAG). Prior to the OAG, Ellen served as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Rackets Division of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, where she handled all state No-Fault insurance fraud cases in Kings County. The most important of these cases involved the investigation, prosecution and conviction of several defendants, including Robert Mallela, MD. Litigation stemming from this investigation culminated in the pivotal case of State Farm v. Mallela, et.al., 2005 NY Slip Op 02416 (Court of Appeals 2005).
